The Holy Spirit is in our Midst!
Can you feel the Wind and Fire of the Holy Spirit?
I can!
The winds of change are blowing at Resurrection. We are moving into a new Worship style with the final retirement and leaving of Rev. Holly Eden, at the end of June. The Rev. Jeff Knox and Rev. Bruce Schrader will bring to Resurrection a new and different breath from the Holy Spirit as they will begin supplying for us, and help us move into transition between clergy ministries. As is expected with the Winds of change, I am torn between my admiration of all that Holly has done for us and the excitement of what will be new to us with Jeff and Bruce. As the wind blows through us, open your minds and hearts to the process that God has set before us, and let it sustain and build our faith in God and our community here at Resurrection.
I also can feel the fires burning within us. Our teams are taking up the work of God and are doing the ministries they have been called to do. Administration and Property are diligently working through a myriad of issues that are necessary for us to maintain a physical presence in our community. Administration is working on better financial processes and more effective communication with you, to name few. Property is gearing up for summer and fall building repair projects, as well as building security and cleaning issues. But most importantly as I have said before, Worship, Pastoral Care and Ministry issues are our priority if we are to have a vibrant effective missionary based, faith community here at Resurrection. The Worship team has worked hard to be ready, for Sunday mornings during this transition, and I believe they are ready. Pastoral Care is well on its way to providing effective faith based care to our parishioners, be it those here during the week, on Sundays, those home bound, those hospitalized, and those families who have had a member pass on. Most recently the Ministry team has met and has begun to develop a sense of call as to where our missionary and educational needs lay.
I can also feel the Holy spirit at work in our Lutheran - Episcopalian partnership team meetings, as we begin to discern God’s call to all of our local brothers and sisters in finding new ways to meet our Worship, Pastoral Care and Ministry needs together.
Let us pray,
Lord Jesus Christ,
You have prayed that we will be one, as You, Our Father and the Holy Spirit are one. You sent Your Holy Spirit upon us to help us to work together as one here at Resurrection. So, let Your Holy Spirit give us the strength and courage to do what is right and the grace to accomplish all that we undertake.
in your name we pray,
Amen.
In Faith,
Alex Thompson, Sr. Warden
